The Art Lyceum of Bohemia is the private high school that art students Karou and Zuzana Nováková attend. It is housed in a pink Baroque palace where during, Nazi occupation, two young Czech nationalists had slit the throat of a Gestapo commander and scrawled "liberty" with his blood. The two Czech nationalists were captured and impaled on the finials of the courtyard gate. Students like to mill about at the gate to smoke and wait for friends.
