Prague is the capital city of the Czech Republic. It is the city on Earth where Karou currently lives.

Description[]

Prague is a metropolis that Akiva describes as a "fairy-tale city." It has an other-worldly quality to it with many cathedrals and cobblestones. Prague is a place that feels barely touched by the twenty-first century, or the twentieth or nineteenth. Tall houses glow goldenrod, carmine, and eggshell blue, embellished with Rococo plasterwork and capped in roofs of uniform red. Baroque cupolas are the soft green of antique copper. Gothic steeples rise up to the sky. The cobbled lanes meander like creeks. Above it all looms the castle on the hill, that's floodlit at night.

The Charles Bridge is a medieval bridge that fills every day with artists and musicians. It crosses the Vltava River. One end leads to Old Town. Zuzana Nováková and Mikolas Vavra often perform their puppet show on the Charles Bridge.

Malá Strana is where the marionette theater where Zuzana and Mik work at is in Little Quarter Square, which is in the shadow of the Church of St. Nicholas. The Devil's Stream is the canal where the Vltava flows around the Kampa, the island on the Malá Strana side of the river. The Jewish Quarter is located in the north of the city. It's a medieval ghetto that has given way to a dense concentration of Art Nouveau apartment buildings as pretty as cakes. Brimstone's shop's entrance is in the Jewish Quarter behind a service entrance in the rear of an apartment building.
