A self described "writer-artist-daydreamer-nerd-person," Laini Taylor is an American author and artist located in Portland, Oregon, USA. Along with "Daughter of Smoke & Bone," she has also written 3 previous novels- "Blackbringer" and "Silksinger" (in the Dreamdark series) as well as "Lips Touch: Three Times" (a National Book Award finalist).
Laini met her husband, illustrator Jim Di Bartolo (who illustrates Laini's novels), on her first day at art school, and in 2009 their daughter Clementine was born.
